Dear Friends,

Welcome to our 16th Season!

Why do Colorado Chamber Players’ members take the time out of their busy lives to play chamber music?  Because chamber music brings them such delight and satisfaction.  And- because they love sharing chamber music with audiences in intimate settings.  All the venues where the CCP performs have under 300 seats- the perfect way to experience chamber music.

Our performers are among the best in Colorado - or of anywhere in the world - including principal players of the Colorado Symphony, Colorado Springs Philharmonic and faculty at University of Colorado and the Lamont School of Music.  They are charismatic, warm people- and their enthusiasm for chamber music reaches audiences in a compelling way.

Our 16th season in 2009-10 celebrates Johann Sebastian Bach’s 325th birthday, with some of his most beloved works. In December, the CCP joins with St. John’s Cathedral and the Colorado Choral Arts Society in a performance of Cantata #140, Wachet auf.  In February, Bach’s profoundly moving Ich habe genug - Cantata #82-  will present baritone Robert Gardner in his CCP debut.  In March, the CCP performs Bach’s virtuosic Goldberg Variations in the string trio version, along with a quartet arrangement of Art of the Fugue.

The 16th season begins in October with Masakazu Ito, guitar, with works by Italian, Cuban, and Paraguayan composers in a concert including Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Guitar Quintet op.143.  In November, flutist Paul Nagem will join a string trio from the CCP in a contemporary program at the gorgeous RedLine art space in Denver, with several Colorado premieres - works by Mark Fish, D’Arcy Reynolds and Behzad Ranjbaran.  Come hear- and see-  the visual and the sonic worlds connect!

It is with great joy that we return to Children’s Hospital for the continuation of a musical residency. Patients, family members and medical staff all take pleasure in our short noon-time concerts for the hospital community.

As always, the CCP presents programs that juxtapose both new and familiar pieces – often with works you’d never hear anywhere else. Join in our musical adventure, and experience the splendor and satisfaction of chamber music!
