"Sweet Songs of Butterflies" is a 50-minute classical and jazz concert with music imitating and depicting butterflies, invertebrates and insects. Slides of butterflies and narration will enhance the concert experience. The concert is designed for children ages 4 to 10, accompanied by their teachers, parents or guardians. The 6 musicians of the Colorado Chamber Players will include 2 violins, clarinet, double bass, piano and percussion. Concerts are presented at the Butterfly Pavilion in spring 2008 to coincide with the study of insects and life cycles of insects in Colorado schools. The heavenly combination of flute, viola and harp features music by Hahn, Beethoven, Nielsen, Seiber, Glazunov and Bach (German, French, Danish and Russian composers). Listen while string quartet and bandoneon from the CCP accompany dancers from Tango Colorado in tangos of Piazzolla, Gardel, and Pugleise. A musical fable based on a traditional African folk tale, which acquaints listeners with various facets of African culture. Recounts Tunji’s struggle with a bully (the Giant Pamamadou), and how he learns to stand strong. The narrator cues kids in audience to play percussion in concert. Spanish/English available. |
