Friday, February 5, 2010, 7:30 pmSt. John's Cathedral of Denver
1350 Washington Street Denver, CO 80203
The Colorado Chamber Players, during its 16th season, embarked on an ongoing celebration in 2010, of J.S. Bach's 325th birthday. One of Bach's most profoundly moving cantatas, Ich habe genug, BWV82, featured Robert Gardner, Baritone in his debut with the Chamber Players; Lisa Martin, Oboe; and Stephen Tappe, Continuo Organ. Cantata #82 is a serene contemplation of death, and features one of the composer's most beautiful arias, Schlummert ein. Bach's Cantata #158 Der Friede sei mit dir and Schubert's A minor string quartet rounded out the program. St. John's Schola Cantorum sang the chorale movements.
This concert was repeated on January 31st, 2010, as part of the morning service at St. John's Cathedral.
