The Bugs of Aesop's Fables give a modern take on four of Aesop"s Fables about insects and other creatures of the natural world. Aesop himself was a Greek slave who lived in the mid-sixth century BC in ancient Greece. His fables have been passed down through the centuries, and are much beloved for their endearing and timeless wisdom.
This year's program, The Bugs of Aesop's Fables, consists of 4 short commissioned pieces by composers Katrina Wreede and David Waldman. The pieces by our composers were given world premiere performances at the Butterfly Pavilion! The concert is designed for children ages 4 to 10, accompanied by their teachers, parents or guardians. Concerts are presented in spring 2011 to correspond with the study of insects and life cycles of insects in Colorado schools. Live insects and demonstrations accompany the concerts, with staff from the Butterfly Pavilion.
Fables are:
The Dove and the Ant (return favors done to you)
The Silkworm and the Spider (True art is thoughtful, delights and endures)
The Gnat and the Lion (No matter how you brag, you can be undone)
The Wasp and the Snake (As a last resort take your enemy with you)
Musicians perform on strings, wind, piano and percussion instruments. Come hear the finest classical chamber music in the Denver area at the Pavilion!
Please call 720-974-1862 for information on busing and admission scholarships.
Two concerts will be performed on February 28th, at 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
