Czech composer Antonin Dvořak's music has been beloved in the United States ever since his brief residency in New York in the 1890's. The Colorado Chamber Players explores the music of Dvořak written in the USA - his marvelous Viola Quintet in Eb, op. 97- as well as Dvořak's forbidden lifelong love of his wife's sister Josefina. Dvořak's song cycle, Cypresses, was arranged by the composer for string quartet and dedicated to Josefina.
CCP, October 2010 Spoken excerpts from Josef Skvorecky's novel "Dvořak in Love" and letters about Dvořak, will be included in the program, narrated by Curious Theatre actor Mare Trevathan.
