wonderful Sunday afternoon CCP concert awaits in the brand new Opus Two hall!
Los Angeles composer Mark Carlson will attend the Colorado premiere
performances of two of his seminal works: View from the Hilltop, for Clarinet, String Trio and Piano and Mark
Carlson's Piano Quartet. Daniel Silver will perform excerpts from Carlson's Hall of Mirrors. In
addition, the Colorado Chamber Players will perform Joaquin Turina's Piano Quartet.
Mark Carlson will be in attendance as a visiting artist, and will present a
short introduction to his music as well as talk with patrons after the
afternoon concert. A delicious wine,
appetizer, dessert and cheese reception (included in the ticket price) will
follow the CCP's inaugural performance in the intimate and resonant Opus Two
Hall. Tickets are only being sold for advance reservations for this

Composer Mark Carlson's lyrical, emotionally powerful, and stylistically unique
music has earned him the admiration of audiences and musicians throughout the
United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. A versatile composer, his nearly 100
works include art songs, chamber music, choral music, concertos and other large
ensemble works, and songs for musical theater.
The recipient of over 50 commissions, he has been commissioned by the National
Shrine in Washington, DC, and the New West Symphony, among other organizations,
as well as by many individual musicians and private parties. One of his CDs,
The Hall of Mirrors, was a winner of the Chamber Music America/WQXR Record
Awards for 2001. Mr. Carlson is on the faculty of UCLA in Los Angeles, CA.
