After 21 years as Principal Harpist of the Flint (Michigan), Shreveport (Louisiana), Richmond, and Colorado Symphonies, Lynne Abbey-Lee now primarily devotes herself to chamber music and teaching. While an orchestra harpist, she worked with conductors George Manahan, Isaiah Jackson, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Christopher Seaman, and Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, among others. She also substituted in the Rochester Philharmonic, the Dallas Symphony, the North Carolina Symphony, and recently in the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. She has been on the faculty at the University of Colorado, the University of Richmond,and Virginia Commonwealth University, and has given master classes at the University of Michigan. Her teachers include Alice Chalifoux in Camden,Maine, and Ruth Dean Clark at the University of Michigan. Ms. Abbey-Lee has recorded a CD of Christmas music with soprano and flute, and also with the Richmond and Colorado orchestras, including as soloist in Frank Martin's Three Dances in Richmond. In 2002, she performed at the World Harp Congress in Geneva with the seven-harp Salzedo Ensemble.She has also appeared at conferences of the American Harp Society and the National Flute Association, and frequently writes for Harp Column magazine.
