Was born and raised in San Jose, Costa Rica, and received his early musical education at the Orquestra Sinfonica Juvenil de Costa Rica with Jorge Rodriguez. Max’s initial visit to the United States was to the Sewanee Music Festival in 1996, where he studied with John Dee. That same year, Max was the recipient of a full scholarship which brought him to Louisiana to study at Loyola University of New Orleans with Helen Erb; he earned a BM at Loyola and performed as a soloist with the Loyola Symphony & with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Max completed an MM degree at Denver University’s Lamont School of Music where he studied with Lisa Martin and received the Outsanding Graduate Student in Music Performance Certificate. Max recently toured with the Carl Rosa Opera company of London. The company took Pirates of Penzance on the road and traveled to over 45 states in the USA for 3 months. Max now resides in Denver and has finished his 3rd season with the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as playing with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, the Colorado Ballet, the Fort Collins Symphony, and the Cheyenne Symphony.
