Judith McIntyre

Cellist

Born into a very musical family, Canadian cellist Judith McIntyre was naturally guided and encouraged towards a career in music. She began musical studies at the age of four on the violin and switched to the cello at the age of seven. She went on as a scholarship student at the university of Toronto and Manhattan School of Music obtaining a Bachelors and Masters Degrees of Music. Her main teachers have been former principal cellist of the Toronto Symphony, Daniel Domb and former Associate Principal Cellist of the New York Philharmonic, Alan Stepansky.

In May 2003, Ms. McIntyre won a position with the Colorado Symphony orchestra in the position of Third Chair Cello. The former music director of the CSO, Marin Alsop then invited her to play in her preeminent contemporary music festival, the Cabrillo Festival in Santa Cruz, California.

As member and principal cello of the Verbier Festival Orchestra in Switzerland, Ms. McIntyre has had the opportunity to play in some of the world's greatest concert halls, at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January of 2003 and most recently on tour with Joshua Bell in October 2008. In her experiences at Verbier she has performed under such reknown conductors as James Levine, Kurt Masur, Christoph von Dohnanyi and Mstislav Rostropovich.

As soloist she has performed with the orchestras of Detroit, Michigan, Windsor, Ontario and University of Toronto as well as with the Colorado Young Sinfonia and Colorado Symphony. Ever active as chamber musician, she is in constant demand in her current hometown of Denver, Colorado performing with the Front Range Chamber Players, the Colorado Chamber Players, and is a founding member of the Zephyr Ensemble. She has also taken part as chamber musician in the Verbier Festival, the Bargemusic series in New York City and in Japan as part of the Music Master's Course in Kazusa.  Judith has performed with the Colorado Chamber Players since 2007.
