Johann Strauss' DIE FLEDERMAUS
Sung in English by the Colorado Opera Troupe
Accompanied by the Colorado Chamber Players Elizabeth Schulze, Conductor
The masquerade party is over. Your best friend leaves you alone in a public park (after you passed out!) Dressed as a bat, you walk home utterly humiliated and plot revenge! Invitations to Prince Orlofsky's Ball are selectively delivered. The unsuspecting guests arrive. But wait! They are all pretending to be different people (so opera!) The plot thickens as each begins an amorous chase. Much champagne is consumed. The tenor is exiled off-stage in jail for all of Act II (a fate worse than death!) and ... See how it ends!
Mon, Dec. 6, 1999 - Temple Event Center Uptown

The Cradle Will Rock, By Marc Blitzstein, A Broadway Opera
Steve Wilson, Stage Director
Jesse Levine, Conductor
The Cradle Will Rock is a trenchant and hard-hitting operetta about the unionization of a steel town. Written by composer Marc Blitzstein, originally directed by Orson Welles, and produced by John Houseman, Federal Theatre Project banned its opening in 1937. The CCP, singers and actors perform in a chamber opera version of this fascinating and historical work. Tim Robbins' soon-to-be released film will be about The Cradle Will Rock.
