The Colorado Chamber Players unique side-by-side high school chamber music program brings together gifted students from the Denver Young Artists Orchestra, with CCP artists. Coaches play alongside their students, in a similar design to the Marlboro Music Festival. YCP is now in its fifth year.
Bartok's 1st string quartet, Dvorak Bass Quintet and Schubert's 2 cello quintet are often the first advanced chamber works that a high school or college age chamber musician encounters. Poulencs joyous and jazzy piano/wind sextet provides humor and sizzle in a program for the young at heart.
Program
Excerpts from:
Bela Bartok: String Quartet no. 1, op. 7 (1920)
Francis Poulenc: Sextet for Piano and Winds (1932)
Franz Schubert: Quintet in C major for 2 cellos, Op. post. 163 D956
Antonin Dvorak: Bass Quintet in G major, op. 77
