Dessert reception following April 25 concert

The young virtuosi of the YCP present their second season program with masterpieces by Schumann, Shostakovich and Nielson.  Shostakovich’s haunting Piano Trio is one of his most powerful works; Schumann’s Piano Quartet dazzles with virtuosic passages for piano and strings.   Ervin Schulhoff, a Czech composer who perished in the Holocaust, wrote his folk-inspired Concertino for an unusual combination: flute, viola and contrabass.  Dvorak’s charming Terzetto and Nielson’s blockbuster wind quintet round out the program.
