Dessert reception following April 25 concert
The young virtuosi of the YCP present their second season program with masterpieces by Schumann, Shostakovich and Nielson. Shostakovichs haunting Piano Trio is one of his most powerful works; Schumanns Piano Quartet dazzles with virtuosic passages for piano and strings. Ervin Schulhoff, a Czech composer who perished in the Holocaust, wrote his folk-inspired Concertino for an unusual combination: flute, viola and contrabass. Dvoraks charming Terzetto and Nielsons blockbuster wind quintet round out the program.

Program:
Robert Schumann: Piano Quartet
Dmitri Shostakovich: Piano Trio, op.67
Ervin Schulhoff: Concertino for Flute, Viola and Double Bass
Carl Nielson: Woodwind Quintet
Antonin Dvorak: Terzetto for 2 Violins and Viola
