Salzburg and Venice: That’s D’amore! at Broomfield Auditorium
October 21, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$12 – $18Colorado Chamber Players welcome Baroque musicians Matthew Dane, Barbara Hamilton (Violas D’amore), Ann Marie Morgan (viola da gamba), Eric Wicks (harpsichord) and Daniel Hutchings (tenor) as they continue celebrating the CCP’s 25th Anniversary Season, with a Baroque program featuring the mysterious Viola D’amore- a resonating instrument with 14 strings! The D’amore has 7 upper strings and 7 resonating strings.
Heinrich Biber’s masterpiece from the Harmonia Artificioso, J.S. Bach’s gorgeous tenor arias from Cantata 36a “Auch mit gedämpften” and “Erwäge, wie sein blutgefärbter Rücken” from the St. John’s Passion, showcase the silvery personality of the Viola D’amore. Often called “the viola of love”, this concert gives a unique opportunity to hear an intriguing instrument.
An astounding contemporary work for Viola D’amore and Cello by Garth Knox, adds to the fun. Not to be missed!
