The great Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich was surrounded by extraordinary talent in Soviet Russia. The CCP performs music by Shostakovich; by Shostakovich’s closest friend, Miecyzslaw Weinberg;  by Russia’s “bad boy” Prokofiev, who left Russia for 20 years and finally returned; and by Stravinsky, who inspired Shostakovich in many of his compositions.

Sergei Prokofiev: Overture on Hebrew Themes

Dmitry Shostakovich: Excerpt from Quartet no. 4

Igor Stravinsky: 3 Pieces for Clarinet Solo

Miecyzslaw Weinberg: Piano Quintet, op. 18
