Incessant Hum: Beethoven 2020, at Boulder Public Library Canyon Theatre

January 19, 2020 by Barbara Hamilton

Colorado Chamber Players presents a world premiere of a new music/theatre hybrid, with a script by Jeffrey Neuman, directed by Mare Trevathan. Today’s concert WILL provide ASL interpretation for the deaf and hard of hearing. The Canyon Theatre is handicapped accessible, but does not offer assistive listening devices.

As the world celebrates the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven, we explore the emotional world that Beethoven experienced, as he lost his hearing and ability to perform as a pianist and conductor.  Two actors, Chris Kendall and Chelsea Frye, perform Neuman’s script, along with excerpts from late works by Beethoven. Directed by Mare Trevathan.

With thanks to the Boulder Library Foundation for co-sponsorship of today’s program!
